You can say what you want about Martha Stewart, but I found this recipe from her and it's great. You take a package of thick-cut bacon and cut it in half. Then, on a baking sheet lined with parchment, put the strips on a baking rack. Take a half cup of packed brown sugar and sprinkle it generously over the strips, then sprinkle black pepper over the brown sugar. Bake in an oven preheated to 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes, rotating the sheet halfway through. In the picture below, you'll notice about three of the strips are burned. They were much thinner than the rest, so I'd recommend setting the thinner ones aside (I had about 5 half-strips leftover).
I made them for my partner before he left for work because I'm a fucking catch, that's why. Also, don't eat them right out of the oven. Let them cool significantly, they are exponentially tastier when cool.

Instead of black pepper, try a bit of cayenne. It adds just the right kick.

Ive been doing this for a while, except I replace Pepper with Paprika :)
I call it Candied Bacon. My doctor calls it cholesterol sticks

I do like my bacon almost burnt so it might not be too bad.
